According to The Cinema Source, the leading hero role will be played by none-other than Greek hero from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie, Logan Lerman. Like we've reported, the originally planned Spider-Man reboot was set to feature character returns from Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco, but now the next one will zero-in on a younger, high-school-driven storyline.
Life’s about to get pretty interesting for 18-year-old Logan Lerman. If reports are to be believed, he may be the next Spider-Man. Add to that, the successful opening of his film Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief, which is touted to be the next Harry Potter.
In the film, directed by Chris Columbus (director of Home Alone and the first two Harry Potter films) and presented by Fox Star Sudios, Logan had the herculean task of carrying the lead role. The movie, also starring Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Catherine Keener and Steve Coogan, is an epic adventure of teen demigods which sees Percy’s character packed with enough visual firepower and youthful zeal necessary to launch a hit franchise. Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief entered theatres last week in the US to a rousing success, with nearly $40 million weekend collections at the box office. It is releasing in India today.
Here’s the teen heartthrob’s take on working on the magnum opus and his passion for acting.
How did you land this part? Chris was my hero growing up, I was obsessed with him. When I was approached for the film and heard that he was directing it, I said, ‘Man I have to be a part of it.’ I didn’t know anything about the books or the story line, but I immediately read the first Percy Jackson book.
What’s the story about? The movie starts off with a big dilemma; Zeus has lost his powerful lightening bolt and they are all pointing fingers at Percy Jackson. Percy himself has no idea who he is and knows nothing about his background. He’s thrown into a dangerous situation and has to save the world and his mom.
Did it feel like a big responsibility playing Percy? I didn’t realise what I had got myself into until we started filming. It is a big responsibility, I just had to do my part to make it good.
Will teenagers identify with Percy? Kids will know what he’s going through. The story proves that when someone is thrown into a difficult situation, they can rise to the challenge.
Help Percy harness his newly discovered powers by providing a conduit for water to reach the demigod.

Make certain to plug all open ends. -Piping connections must be intact before water reaches the release valve. -Additional pipe pieces and a faster flow of water towards the release valve willchallenge your abilities as game play progresses.
After completing all 10 levels you will have the opportunity to answer a questionnaire and determine which god or demigod you resemble. Completing the questionnaire will unlock the soundboard.
You can reset completed levels by tapping the RESET button from the “Choose A Level” screen. Activating the RESET button will not relock the soundboard.
Inside sources say that Percy Jackson star, Logan Lerman has been cast in the Sony reboot of the Spider-Man film series. Director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is set to helm the first film in what I’m guessing will be another trilogy although that has not been confirmed at this time.
The story takes the characters back to high school in the New York City borough of Queens. No word yet on who has been cast as Peter Parker’s love interest Mary Jane Watson formerly played by Kirsten Dunst or his best friend Harry Osborn previously played by Mr. James Franco.
Webb is in talks with Avatar director James Cameron to use his cameras and technique to film the entire movie in 3-D.
The official announcement will no doubt come shortly along with more details to follow.
